Bajio

Frame Materials: Different materials will impact performance, durability and comfort of your eyewear.

Plastic Frames: Is a great option if you like color! It’s very cost effective and lightweight. There are drawbacks too. Plastic frames are easier to break, they can burn, aging and/or exposure to sunlight decreases their strength, and the color can fade. Plastic frames also tend to slide down an oily nose.

Metal Frames: Metal frames are the most widely used material in the manufacture of frames. They are corrosion resistant, but for some people, they can react with their skin chemistry.

Titanium Frames: Titanium is lightweight, durable, strong, corrosion resistant AND hypoallergenic.

Stainless Steel Frames: is an alternative to titanium. It’s lightweight, strong and nickel free which makes it hypoallergenic as well.

Flexible Frames: Flexon is a titanium based alloy. It is also commonly referred to as “memory metal” because they will come back into shape even after twisting and bending. Flexon frames are lightweight, corrosion resistant, and hypoallergenic.

Specialty Eyeglasses:

These are glasses designed for a specific task in mind to optimize your vision. It’s very rare that one pair of eyeglasses will work in all situations, so we’ve listed a few suggestions for you to consider.

Computer Eyeglasses: If you spend a lot of time at a computer, you’ve probably experienced some eye fatigue because your eyes stay focused at a specific distance for long periods of time. Computer glasses are designed for intermediate(25-35”) and near(16-18”) distances. This will give you the best correction for these distances and avoid eye strain. Add Prevencia Blue Blocker Anti-Reflective Coating and feel the difference.

Occupational Eyeglasses: Pilots, mechanics and electricians are good examples of people who may be interested in an occupational lens because a lot of the work they perform is above them. An occupational lens has two “segs” (refer to Bifocal above) one at the top of the lens and another at the bottom of the lens and is sometimes referred to as a “double D” lens.

Hobbies: Do you enjoy cross-stitching, jewelry making, crafts, or reading for long periods of time? You may want to consider a pair of reading glasses. Sometimes a pair of “readers” are adequate, but more than likely your two eyes have a different prescription, so it’s better to have them custom made and fit to you for optimum comfort and vision.

Safety Eyeglasses: These eyeglasses protect your eyes when you’re working around flying debris or power tools. They must be made with impact resistant lenses for maximum protection. Safety frames are stronger than the typical dress eyewear.

Sports Eyeglasses: These glasses also protect your eyes while you enjoy your favorite sport. The lenses must be made with an impact resistant lens for maximum protection. The type of sport may determine the color of the lens and are a must have for the athlete. No matter the sport you participate in, sports glasses should be worn!! The lenses and frames are stronger than regular dress eyewear and are meant to protect your most valuable feature!!

Eyeglass Lenses

SeePort Optometry offers a wide selection of eyeglass lenses to meet individual vision requirements. Choosing the appropriate lenses can help you protect your eyes, increase your comfort and enhance your performance at work or at play. Here we have compiled most of the styles, materials, and options with brief descriptions for your convenience. Please consult with us so we may help you customize the best lenses for you. Also, additional pairs of eyewear can be a compliment to fashion, sports, or other activities in which you participate. Glasses are excellent tools to enhance our quality of life and should be considered in many different applications.

Corrective Lens Options:

• Single Vision-corrects nearsightedness, farsightedness and astigmatism. Most people who wear glasses before the age of 40 have single vision lenses
  
  

• Bifocal Lenses-provides sharp vision for both far and near, but there is a noticeable “jump” at the visible line between far and near lenses. The bifocal or “seg” resembles a half moon. These were developed by Benjamin Franklin!
  
  

• Trifocal Lenses-provides sharp vision for far, intermediate (arms length) and near. Again there is a noticeable “jump” as your eye moves to each section.
  
  

• Progressive Lenses– this is the most advanced technology which provides crisp vision at all distances without the visible lines or image jump. It is frequently the best option.
  
  

Eyeglass Lens Materials:

• CR-39-most people refer to this type as “plastic” lenses. This lens is lightweight compared to glass (which for safety reasons we NEVER recommend), and may be made in just about all prescriptions.
  
  

• Trivex – a lightweight and thin option, Trivex is preferable to polycarbonate. It is impact resistant for safety, thin for ascetics and optical superior for your vision.
  
  

• Polycarbonate-because of the way this material bends light in a different way than plastic lenses, your lenses will be thinner than the same prescription in plastic lenses. These lenses also have the added benefit for those frequently outdoors, under fluorescent lights, or using computers in that they filter ultra violet light naturally, blocking 99% of the damaging light.
  
  

• High Index-the higher the index of refraction the quicker the light will pass through a lens, so less actual lens material is needed meaning the higher the index, the thinner the lens. These lenses are helpful in higher power prescriptions.
  
  

Additional Lens Treatments:

• Scratch resistant coating-no lens is scratch-proof!! This coating, however, will make lenses harder to scratch when dropped or rubbed against a hard surface.
  
  

• Ultra-violet (UV) treatment-is a treatment applied to lenses to protect against harmful UV light that can contribute to the development of cataracts, macular degeneration, and skin cancer that can develop on the sensitive skin of the eyelids. We recommend this on ALL eyeglass purchases unless your lens material/option already has UV blocking quality.
  

• Anti-reflective coating (AR)-reduces the internal and external reflections on the lens allowing approximately 11% more light to pass through the lens which improves your quality of vision. Anti-reflective coatings also reduce unwanted glare and halos at night. Cosmetically, AR coats make the lenses appear invisible and thinner. In our opinion, the top quality AR technology that we offer has improved dramatically. They now feature a more scratch resistant quality and are the most scratch resistant lens available. We recommend AR be considered by everyone, but especially by people with high prescriptions, poor night vision, or those in a profession in which appearance is important or public speaking is common.
  
  

• Transition Lenses– are activated by the exposure to UV light, the very same thing they protect against. Transitions™ automatically “adjust as light conditions change to provide the appropriate level of [tint]” (Transitions.com). They also provide visual comfort by minimizing eye strain and fatigue. Since, modern windshields also block UV light, transition lenses, with the exception of the new Transition XTRActive, will not change inside your car. Transition lenses have made great strides in recent years. There are now four great options.1. Transition Signature: The Signature responds to UV light and instantly begin to darken when exposed to it and turn fully clear indoors.2. Transition XTRActive actually darken behind the windshield of the car and retain some color indoor for those that are light sensitive.3. Transition Vantage is the only lens that transitions into a polarized lens when exposed to UV and adapt to changing light.4. Transition DriveWear is a polarized lens that reduces glare while optimizing contrast and constantly adapting to lighting conditions. • Polarized Lenses-the most popular sunglass lens choice. Most often seen in grey or brown, but there are many other colors available. Polarized lenses decrease bright glare and reflections and are recommended for this harsh FL sun!! The color of the lens has a lot to do with the performance of the lens, the way your eye reacts to them and your visual sensation.
  
  

Grey-is the most popular color for general purpose use because the colors remain true with no distortion and maintains normal depth perception. It makes a good everyday or all-purpose choice for sunglasses. It is recommended for fishing in blue waters.

Brown-is effective for filtering blue light commonly found in hazy, foggy or low light conditions. Brown will improve your depth perception and contrast in variable light conditions. Brown is recommended for skiers, golfers and fishing in shallow waters.

Eyewear Policies:

Come in for complimentary periodic adjustments to your glasses for good maintenance.

1. Always use both hands to put on/take off your eyewear to prevent breakage and poor alignment.

2. Never lay glasses down on the surface of the lens to prevent scratching.

3. Clean glasses daily with water and a mild non-citrus dish detergent. Dry with a soft, clean, lint-free cloth.

PLEASE ALLOW 2 WEEKS TO ADJUST TO YOUR NEW GLASSES

If you are experiencing difficulty, it could be something as simple as an adjustment, so please stop by.

Headaches and dizziness are not uncommon during 2 week adjustment period.

Eyewear & Contact Lens/Cancellation/Return Policy

Our experienced staff custom fits every pair of eyewear to be sure that our patients have their best vision possible. If there is a need to cancel, exchange, or return eyewear for any reason it must be done within 30 days. Our policy states that we will credit the frame back at 100% of the patient cost, if the frame is in in the same condition it was sold, and 50% of the lens cost due to the custom order of each patient lenses. Please let us know immediately if you have any concerns regarding your eyewear.
